Little Chef D received some cooking supplies from Grandma and Grandpa for her birthday. This gift might seem unusual for someone this young, but she really does love to cook. She has been SO excited and wanted to make HER recipes every day! The first one she made was Very Berry Scones from King Arthur Flour. We made a small adaptation. Instead of doing it by hand I thought it would be easier if she pulsed the dough in a food processor. Given her age I felt this was a very smart decision.
She dumped the mix, whose box has been opened since the morning after she received it, into the bowl of the food processor.
She combined the egg and milk in a measuring cup and mixed them well. Little Chef D still loves cracking eggs. It is one of those simple pleasures. She does it well without letting bits of shell drop into the measuring cup.

She measured out the salt and leveled it off with the lid. I was very impressed. She said, “I remembered how to do it.”
The butter was then cut into cubes and pulsed with the mix and then the egg/milk mixture.

She LOVED pressing the dough softly with her fingers into the scone pan. When she had enough she quickly washed her hands!

Little Chef D very carefully spooned glaze over each scone. When there was more glaze left in the bowl at the end she went back and gave each one another dose. She had to use up every drop!
