We are just a little excited about Easter this year! We were at our local dollar store when we saw a fun egg cut out. Then we thought it would make a fun door decoration.
Supplies: All items purchased at our local Dollar Tree
- Cut out egg
- Package of felt
- Hot glue
- Glitter glue
The first step is to plan out your egg pattern. The best part of this craft is changes are possible until you are happy with your design. Cut the felt into a shape big enough to cover the holes plus about 1/4″ (where you will glue). Place the felt behind the egg to check your work.
For the long lines you will need to cut the felt on a diagonal through the middle as shown above. The bottom line is a little longer so you will need an additional small piece. It doesn’t matter how badly you cut the lines like we did because it will be on the back, no one will know.
Little Chef D helped me out by telling me what pattern she wanted. Some pieces of the felt were thick while others were thin. Felt is not that easy to cut, and thin felt is even harder to cut. This is our final design…..after a few changes.
Now, flip the egg over but leave the felt in place.
Using hot glue outline each shape and then place your cut felt on top of the glue. Flip over the egg and press from the front to the back so the felt doesn’t push through.

We decided our egg needed a little more pizazz so we used the glitter glue. We left it to dry overnight.
This craft project took only 30 minutes to make. The hardest part was cutting the thin felt, but that didn’t really matter because it is on the back side. Little Chef D was super excited to show her sisters when they all came home.
