My Grandma came into town this Christmas and make these Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts. I love spending time with my Grandma and my kids love playing with their Great Grandma as well. She is willing to try just about anything! My Dad got her out snow shoeing! How great is that! Grandma made these as part of a dinner one night instead of an appetizer, but either way it is an easy recipe with 3 ingredients; bacon, water chestnuts and honey BBQ sauce. A few years ago my Grandma made a cookbook with some of her favorite recipes, one is Dutch Butter Cookies. Last year my Mom made all my siblings a cookbook with some of her favorite recipes with a description of where and why they came about. I can’t wait to share one of those in a couple days.
Just a few tips:
- The thinnest cut bacon is harder to wrap.
- Keep the bacon together as it is packaged and cut into thirds all at once instead of each piece individually.
- Dress it up with fancy toothpicks.
- Whole water chestnuts are too much, get the sliced can so you do not need to slice them yourself.
If serving Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts as an appetizer consider also serving Bacon Deviled Eggs, Candied Pecans, or Chili Cheese Fries.
